Meat Sauce

Eat, Darling, Eat

1/4 c. olive oil

3 minced garlic cloves

1/2 lb. ground sausage

1 lb. chopped beef

2 (28 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes (Scalafini or Tuttarusso brands preferred)

6 oz. can tomato paste

1/2 t. red pepper flakes

1/2 t. salt

1/2 t. black pepper

BIG handful of chopped fresh basil

water

1/2 t. oregano

In a large saucepan over medium flame, heat oil.

Add garlic and sausage, breaking up with a fork for about 5 minutes.

Add chopped beef and continue cooking until browned.

Add tomato paste, red pepper flakes, salt, black pepper and basil.

Add crushed tomatoes.

Fill one can halfway with water and add to pan.

Simmer uncovered for at least 3 hours at least, stirring occasionally.

Stir in oregano.
